For the past few weeks I have been designing different
patterns for my different collections using Photoshop. Here are a a couple of digital
images of the designs I have created for wallpaper and possibly fabrics for lampshades, curtains and cushions. I will
continue to carry on designing for the next couple days and then hopefully
start printing some of my work next week.

Business cards and Postcards
Yesterday I finally sent of my designs for my business cards
and postcards so should have them posted to me by next week. Here is a picture
of what the front and back of my business cards will look like, plus an image of what the front of my postacrd will look like. I came up with the idea of the strips and spots as they are an element thats in my work but also beacsue they are similar to the packaging of sweets. To show a hint of my work on my busniess card I added some little sketches along the bottom of the back of the card. The colours used for my business card are colours that I have used in my final collections.

Final Collections
The final collections that I am working towards will be designs for children's interiors. There will be three main collections. One will be aimed for a boys interior with the theme of toy cars, trains and boats. The second theme will be aimed more towards at girls with the theme of sweets and cakes. The third theme will have a hint of sweets and toys but in landscape fantasy settings.

Inspiring Fabrics
I recently visited the textile
fabric shop Abakan, to get inspired and look at their fabrics that can help with
my designs. I looked at fabrics with similar patterns to the ones that I would like
to create for my designs and backgrounds to my motifs. I particularly like the
patchwork fabrics and the different spotted and scattered designs.
Painted Studies
Here are two images of the
paintings I have created from my research on tin toys . With this collection I
have been trying to stick to a particular colour palette of blues, reds,
yellows and browns and I really think these colours work well together for my
theme.
Research on Tin Toys
To help with my research on tin toys I visited some local
vintage shops in Manchester to see if they had any interesting old toys I could
take photos of and draw from. I found that one shop had toys like robots and
cars from the 80’s and 90’s. I have also been using the search website called Pinterest
to gather images that can help me with my paintings and designs. I found that
Pinterest has a very good wide range of images and this website helped me a lot
when finding images ogf tin toys.
